CIA2009 & EnviroAsia2009 SHOW REVIEW

2009 has been a tumultuous year for many industries, but this does not deter the staging of yet another fruitful edition of CIA and EnviroAsia. For the first time, both exhibitions were fused together, which highlighted the increasing reality of plants incorporating environmental technologies into their processes and engineering. This edition also brought about the largest cluster of laboratory-type technology exhibitors under one roof.

For four days, from 1 – 4 December 2009, Suntec Singapore was transformed into a hive of activity. While business partnerships and opportunities were being explored and exploited at the exhibition halls, the conference rooms were filled with delegates and speakers eager to share their industry knowledge, trends and developments within their fields of expertise. A couple of social events were hosted as an avenue for exhibitors and visitors to mingle and foster a deeper business network.

It wasn’t all serious business at the exhibition. The UFO Catcher at Weidmüller had throngs of visitors glued to their booth.

Creating Value

CIA2009 and EnviroAsia2009 attracted a total of 4,755 trade visitors from 45 countries. Of the visitors, 1,123 (24%) were from overseas. The numbers may have been lower as compared to the 2007 edition, but as Asia takes the lead to economic recovery, the result was better than many have predicted.  Most importantly, as many exhibitors would agree, the event drew in more quality visitors who are end users of their products and services.

The largest overseas group delegation was from VINALAB and VINATEST of Vietnam. The 47-strong group was led by Dr Nguyen Huu Thien who is the President of VINALAB.

Mr Airudin Jamaludin from SIME-SIRIM Technologies Sdn Bhd, Malaysia, led a group of 27 engineers to visit the exhibitions.
