Presently, Mr Kang Thian Jian is the Managing Director in Hyflux taking care of Project Management, Global Electrical, Instrumentation and Control and Mechanical system. Some of the major projects that Hyflux is executing include the world’s largest Desalination plant, Magtaa Desalination plant in Tlemcen, Algeria, a BOT project that Kang is in charge of.

Kang is in charge of the global project. He also manages projects of various scales which uses the in house membrane technology for process control. Kang is also the one who set up in-house software hub to write control programs for Hyflu’s plants worldwide.

Kang has been working in the field of instrumentation and control for more than 20 years. His experience ranges from steel mills, shipyards, ports, cranes, sugar mills, textile industries, waterworks, power system, floating dock to land projects. He was part of the crew in building the first floating dock in SEA. The biggest plant that was commissioned was the Baoshan steel mill in China which lasted more than a year with more than 300 expatriates.

Kang joined ICS for more than 15 years and was the Vice President for 6 years and President for 4 years. Kang was also the chairman for technical talk, treasurer, and Chairman for the exhibitions.

Mr Jonas Berge is a Director at Emerson Process Management in Singapore and has more than twenty years of experience in the field of instrumentation and controls, particularly with fieldbus, wireless, and EDDL.

He is a senior member of ISA and member of the management committee of the Fieldbus Foundation Marketing Society in Singapore. Jonas is also the author of the book "Fieldbuses for process control: Engineering, Operation, and Maintenance" & "Software for Automation: Architecture, Integration, and Security". He was awarded with the 1999 ISA award for excellence in documentation and was educated in Sweden.

Mr. Charles Cheong is the President of FDT group Marketing Society (Singapore), since 2007. Prior to joining FDT group Marketing Society (Singapore), Charles was working at Fieldbus Foundation Marketing Society (Singapore) assuming the position of President from 2002 till 2005.

Having pursued a career in instrumentation, he has worked with Hokushin for 5 years, 12 years with Rosemount, and 13 years with Yokogawa.

Charles is also a fellow of ICS (Instrumentation and Control Society, Singapore).

Andreas Agostin, President, Fieldbus Foundation Marketing Society (Singapore)
 

Mr. Andreas Agostin has been in the industry for the past 15 years and has dealt with fieldbus technology since 1994. He joined MTL Pte Ltd in 2007 after being with Pepperl + Fuchs Singapore for 5 ½ years and 7 years with Pepperl + Fuchs Germany. During his stay in Singapore, Andreas had held positions as Business Development Manager, Product Marketing and Technical Support especially in the Fieldbus area.

Andreas had been an active member in the promotion of FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Profibus technology in Asia Pacific for the last few years. He is well known by major Consultants and EPCs in the region and had consulted more than 35 projects on FOUNDATION Fieldbus.

Shortly after he graduated with MBA degree from the University of Northumbria (UK) in 2006, he joined MTL Pte Ltd Singapore. His expertise covers FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Profibus, wireless technology, general and intrinsically safe Ethernet, as well as process control network security.

His responsibilities include the promotion of networking technologies as well as providing value added services such as fieldbus engineering and training for system vendors, engineering companies and end users.

Dr. David Matsumoto is the Singapore Section President of the International Society of Automation (ISA), a 30,000 member global organization dedicated to the development of international automation standards, education and certification of industry professionals, and publication of technical articles and books.

Having 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, Dave is the Asia Pacific regional director for manufacturing IT at MSD, a multinational pharmaceutical company.  He has worked in the US, Japan, and is currently based in Singapore.   Dave holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from MIT.

Mr. Dominique Chabauty is the President of PROFIBUS Association SEA and a FDT marketing member for Singapore since 2008.

Dominique has been working in the Industrial Automation industry for 8 years. His experiences include working with RED LION BV, taking up the role as an Application Engineer in Factory Automation for 3 years and 2 years with RED LION USA as the Marketing Manager for Interface & Control. He also worked with HUGUET Automation in France for 2 years and branched out as an Automation Engineer. Dominique is currently the Marketing Manager SEA of TURCK Singapore.

Dominique holds the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Automation Systems (France) & Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics (UK). He is also a certified PROFIBUS DP & PA Engineer.

Mr Kwong Kok Chan joined Senoko Power in 1982 specialising in instrumentation & control field for over 15 years. During his tenure, he involved extensively in several multi-million new power plant construction projects including oil/gas dual-fuel firing boiler upgrading, commissioning of Siemens V94.2A gas turbines & its later extension to combined cycle operation mode, and the commissioning of Alstom GT26B combined cycle plant until 2002. He was responsible for the implementation of SAP R/3 ERP and wholesale electricity energy trading software implementation in 2003-2005. His current portfolio is mainly on environmental management and community relationship.

Mr Sachin Gupta is the Principal Wireless Consultant for Industrial Wireless solutions and Applications based in Invensys Singapore office. He has a strong and diversified industry experience amounted to 8 years in designing wireless solutions and network design comprising of various wireless & other network technologies, standards and applications.

He holds a Masters in Telecommunications Engineering from university of New South Wales Australia and a MBA degree in marketing from XLRI School of Management Singapore. His other technical credentials include Project Management Professional (PMP), CWNA (certified wireless network administrator) and WiMAX Forum certified RF Network Designer.

Previously, Sachin has consulted & managed various mobile and wireless projects on Telecom technologies such as Wi-Max,Wi-Fi RFID,VOIP, LAN/WAN and Microwave across APAC region. He is also the President of the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance (WINA) APAC Chapter, an organization which focused on increasing the adoption of wireless technologies in the industry.

Sachin is also an active member of IEEE & ISA SP 100 and has contributed numerous articles, publications on Industrial wireless and is a frequent speaker at industry gatherings.

T.K. Ramaiah is a Senior ISA Member and currently working as Senior Manager (Inst) in Reliance Industries (E&P) division, India. He specializes in commissioning and supporting of Control Systems activities at Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries.

He has 22 years of experience and served reputed companies such as Saudi ARAMCO, SABIC, ONGC and Reliance Industries. He had organized an international conference FFEUCME for end users on FF technology. He was a Toastmaster in Middle East and bagged several prizes for delivering interesting speeches.

He has an extensive involvement from Concept to Commissioning for Mega Grass Root Projects and Expansion Projects. He had commissioned several bus technologies such as HART, FF, ProfiBus, Control Net, OPC with various control systems namely Invensys, Yokogawa, Honeywell, Siemens and Allen Bradley.

He has commissioned and is currently managing the Control systems of KGD6 which is a combination of Sub Sea, Off shore and On-shore installations, first of its kind in Indian sub continent.

Anup Bhargava is well-known senior professional in Asia Pacific’s Power & Utility. Anup Bhargava is currently the Regional Manager/ Asia Pacific for Global Project Operations at GE Power & Water, based in Singapore. Anup comes with over 22 years of power industry experience, having lead “Power Generation” regional groups of multinational corporations.

Anup Bhargava is well versed with Power & Utility Industry, having worked in leading roles for strategic planning, product development, business development, business management, and General Management & Operations. He was also instrumental in expanding Singapore based multinational corporation’s businesses in several parts of South Asia, Australia & Gulf regions. Anup worked closely with Singapore’s based Utilities Plant Operation & Maintenance staff in advising plant upgrade, expansion and service & maintenance solutions.

Mr. Said Taib is currently the Process Control Manager in Facilities Engineering Department at Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd since October 2004.  Before holding the current position, Said Taib starts his career in Petronas Carigali as a Telecommunication Engineer before changing to Instrument Engineer. He has been working as a lead instrument engineer for various field development projects for both onshore and offshore undertaken by Petronas Carigali. In developing the onshore and offshore facilities for both oil or gas production, Petronas Carigali is consistently using the Foundation Fieldbus and Wireless Technology and part of his responsibility is to ensure that these two technologies should be fully utilized by Petronas Carigali to support the upstream business operations. As per today, the application of Foundation Fieldbus and Wireless technology is keep on growing. In total Said Taib has spend about 16 years in doing project design, installation, testing and commissioning since joining Petronas Carigali in 1991.

Said Taib holds the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics from University Technology of Malaysia.

Ingo Patzer started with Bailey Controls Australia in 1992 after ten years in the Australian Navy, in charge of underwater weapons systems. After a short adjustment period he ran the technical training centre until 2001. During this time Ingo was involved (eg Product Specification Development, Beta development and testing) in many technology changes within the industry, including: move to PC's (windows based technologies), IT technologies, Networking, and Security. In 2002, as the Australian Product Manager (Harmony) for ABB he continued his career in divers areas which included: Bid & proposal support, product demonstration and demonstration system development, system sales support, customer demonstrations, Harmony Evolution, Fieldbus technology sales and running the Australian ABB User group.  In 2007 Ingo transferred to ABB in Singapore as the Senior Sales Specialist (Asia region), specializing in: Harmony (Bailey) system migration strategies, DCS demonstration capabilities and development and sales bidding support within the whole Asia region. Ingo has over 17 years experience within the process control business in all areas, from Training to Service to Engineering and Product Management, within all technologies: from Serial communications to modern Fieldbus technologies.

Darek Kominek: B.Sc. Eng. CompE, P.Eng. (Alberta, Canada), is an OPC Subject Matter Expert at MatrikonOPC. Last year Darek launched the successful MatrikonOPC Integrator Partner Program that works with third party System Integrators to help them leverage OPC technology in their projects. Darek regularly presents on OPC topics at conferences and OPC Foundation events, and teaches MatrikonOPC Workshops around the world. Since 1997, Darek has been providing OPC architecture design and implementation assistance for OPC solutions, as well as taken part in the development of OPC Software.

Wang Wenqiang obtained his BSc (Hons) degree in Computer and Information Science from the National University of Singapore in 2000 and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore in 2006. Currently, he is a research fellow in the Intelligent Systems Center, Nanyang Technological University. His research interests include sensor grid infrastructure design and implementation, and data management for large-scale wireless sensor networks.

Cyril Perducat is Senior Vice President - System Consistency and Innovation for Schneider Electric’s Industry Business. In this position since 2007 he was first located in Germany, and relocated with his wife and 4 kids to Singapore in 2008.

He joined Schneider Electric in 1994 and started to work in China as Industrial Control and OEM Activity Manager. In the past 15 years he has occupied the position of : Schneider Electric France - Manufacturing Manager & Supply Chain Manager (France), Schneider Suzhou Drives General Manager (China), Schneider Electric China holding Business Development Director (China)

Mr Perducat  holds a MS in engineering from ENSAM (Ecole Nationale Superieur d'Arts et Metiers - France) and an MS in International Project Management from ESCP (Paris School of Management - France).

In 2007, he joined the board of ODVA (an Industrial Ethernet consortium with also Rockwell Automation, Omron and Cisco as principal members) to represent Schneider Electric and was then elected President by the board of this organisation in 2008.

He is fluent in French, English and Chinese.

K K Siew brings with him more than 24 years of industrial experiences after serving the global organizations of Mobil Oil, Shell, Honeywell and ABB where he was the project & engineering manager of 13 years in overseeing the I&C/DCS/ESD/Automation projects for oil & gas, oil refining, petrochemical and chemical industries across the Asia Pacific region. K K’s vast experience has spanned across the plant maintenance, construction, commissioning, start up, sales support and project management. Since 2002, he has ventured into business advisory, project consultancy and industrial wireless including microwave, FSO, UWB and ZigBee apart from energy efficient businesses.

K K graduated with Master of Engineering Management and MBA in International Business from the New South Wales State of Australia. He was the President of ISA Singapore section from 2006 to 2009, ISA100 Wireless Committee and a regular speaker at ISA Technical Conferences held in Chicago and Houston, USA between 2004 and 2007.

Mr. Toshi Hasegawa is a project leader of industrial automation marketing, particularly with wireless. Toshi has been working for Yokogawa Electric Corporation for 20 years, and he has worked for development of Distributed Control Systems (DCS). His current activity is mainly on standardization and marketing of industrial wireless network. 

He is an active member of ISA SP100 Wireless System for Automation and ISA100 Wireless Compliance institute (WCI). Toshi is also member of the Japan national committee of IEC/TC65/SC65C/WG17 (Wireless communication network and communication profiles-Coexistence).

Bryan Sim is the Wireless Champion for Honeywell Field Solutions in Southeast Asia. His previous 8 years of experience in field instrumentation and control, tank gauging system and industrial communications put him in a unique position to develop the industrial wireless market in the region.

He works closely with major customers to gain their acceptance and confidence in implementing Honeywell’s OneWireless Solutions, such as monitoring applications, for greater “Safety, Reliability & Efficiency” in their plants.

Darek Kominek, Partner Programs Manager, MatrikonOPC  
 

Darek Kominek: B.Sc. Eng. CompE, P.Eng. (Alberta, Canada), is an OPC Subject Matter Expert at MatrikonOPC. Last year Darek launched the successful MatrikonOPC Integrator Partner Program that works with third party System Integrators to help them leverage OPC technology in their projects. Darek regularly presents on OPC topics at conferences and OPC Foundation events, and teaches MatrikonOPC Workshops around the world. Since 1997, Darek has been providing OPC architecture design and implementation assistance for OPC solutions, as well as taken part in the development of OPC Software.

Dr Mudasser Iqbal, Research Fellow, Intelligent Systems Center, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
 
Mudasser Iqbal received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2008 from Monash University, Australia and his B.Sc. (Hons) in Computer Science in 2003 from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. He is currently a research fellow in the Intelligent Systems Center at Nanyang Technological University. His research interests include design and implementation of real life sensor grids for environmental monitoring, earth sciences and health care; middleware and embedded solutions for data acquisition, processing and communication; service-oriented and semantic web architectures in sensor networks; design and optimization of cross layer protocols for risk mitigation and autonomous control in wireless networks.

Philip Nunn, Product Manager - Industrial Networks, MTL Instruments
 

Philip started work in the electrical industry with Crabtree Electrical, now a part of the Electrium Group. After gaining a solid foundation in the disciplines of sales & marketing, Philip moved on to become a Regional Sales Engineer with Craig & Derricott. Responsible primarily for sales of C & D’s range of Electrical Switchgear & Control Equipment, Philip also became involved with C & D’s range of hazardous area components and from this footing, Philip joined Bartec – a specialist manufacturer of hazardous area electrical equipment. As a Regional Account Manager with Bartec, Philip gained a large knowledge of hazardous areas and their associated equipment and approvals.    

Moving to MTL in 2004, Philip’s role as a Regional Account Manager allowed him to increase his knowledge of the Process Market and MTL’s range of product solutions. In 2006, Philip’s role widened to become Business Development Manager – MOST. With a responsibility for sales of the MOST suite of Open Control Components, Philip’s focus changed to encompass a greater awareness of the Process Control Market and the solutions within.

In 2007, Philip became responsible for sales within EMEA of MTL’s suite of networking equipment as Business Development Manager (EMEA) – Industrial Networks. This portfolio of products includes both wired and wireless network products along with network security solutions.

In 2009 this role has been expanded to encompass Marketing functionality and Philip is now Product Manager – Industrial Networks.

Ananth Nochur, Business Development Manager, Honeywell Process Solutions, Asia-Pacific and member of the ASM Consortium, Singapore
 

Ananth Nochur has been working with Honeywell for over 10 years and is a Business Development Manager at Honeywell Process Solutions, Asia Pacific.

He is responsible for delivering Reliability and Operations Excellence solutions to improve the safety, reliability and operator effectiveness of our customers’ businesses. Prior to this role, Ananth was the Industrial Program Lead at Honeywell Technology Solutions Laboratory where he was actively involved in research and development activities in the areas of abnormal situation management and decision support systems for safe and efficient process operations.

Before joining Honeywell, he worked for two years with Reliance Industries – one of India's largest private sector organizations. He obtained his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore and his Bachelors degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India. He is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and Institution of Engineers, Singapore.

Douglas Bellin, Industry Lead for Logistics, Utilities, Retail and Manufacturing, Cisco Asia Pacific
 

Douglas has worked mainly in high tech companies throughout his career.  While finishing his MBA he worked on a project to implement an ERP system for a metals manufacturing company.  Immediately following this project he worked as the business lead for an SAP installation while also maintaining and designing the ‘new internet’ access and designing the corresponding Internet Website and infrastructure that was just starting to become popular

Douglas followed this with a move to Asia Pacific to start up an office for a small Business intelligence company. Since then he has worked in the high tech and emerging technology space across the region. Douglas joined Cisco Systems to lead their industrial solutions and product lines for Asia Pacific.  This includes working with customers and relevant partners to bring business solutions to the customer base. Douglas has an MBA in International Business and Finance from Roosevelt University in Chicago. His undergraduate studies are in Economics and Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Stephen Burke, CFSE, Siemens Process Safety, South East Asia, Singapore

 

Stephen Burke has been a Process Safety Systems Specialist for the last 15 years and has worked in the field of Instrumentation and Control for over 30 years. During this period he has gained broad process control and safety systems knowledge working in a variety of roles for plant owner-operators, consultants and control system vendors. He has been involved in process control and safety system design and implementation for many projects in the Power Generation, Oil and Gas and Chemical Industries. Mr. Burke is a TUV Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE). He is an Instrumentation and Control Engineering Graduate and a Member of the Institute of Instrumentation and Control, Australia.

Mr. Burke has published numerous papers on Safety Instrumented Systems and regularly runs workshops on this topic throughout the South East Asian region.

Glenn Schulz, Managing Director, FDT Group AISBL
 

Glenn Schulz joined the FDT Group as Managing Director in July of 2009. Most recently, Mr. Schulz was the Managing Director and Vice President of Engineering at Dorner. For thirteen years prior to that Mr. Schulz was an executive at Rockwell Automation (NYSE:ROK) with responsibilities that included the Process Industry Asset Management businesses. During his tenure at Rockwell Automation, Mr. Schulz served as a Vice President and the Secretary of the Board of FDT Group. Mr. Schulz was instrumental in establishing the legal, non profit structure of the FDT Group that culminated with incorporation in Belgium as an AISBL.

Mr. Schulz’s diverse technology career has spanned roles as an electrical engineer, a software engineer, a reliability engineer, a college instructor, an engineering manager, a marketing manager, a sales director, a division director, general manager, and vice president. He has numerous design credits, articles, and patents in the areas of real time information based material handling; industrial and process control security; asset management; cryptography; RF data transmission; extremely low power intelligent sensing technologies; electronic operator interface; and root cause analysis. Mr. Schulz holds CISSP and ISSAP (Cryptography) certified credentials.

Mr Jonas Berge is a Director at Emerson Process Management in Singapore and has more than twenty years of experience in the field of instrumentation and controls, particularly with fieldbus, wireless, and EDDL.

He is a senior member of ISA and member of the management committee of the Fieldbus Foundation Marketing Society in Singapore. Jonas is also the author of the book "Fieldbuses for process control: Engineering, Operation, and Maintenance" & "Software for Automation: Architecture, Integration, and Security". He was awarded with the 1999 ISA award for excellence in documentation and was educated in Sweden.

Chung O.J. has a strong Infocomm and control engineering career background with the particular interest in technology integration. He is working in R&D as a leader of a technology group, Digital Network Applications(DNA), as well as Centre for Fieldbus Technology (CFT)in Singapore Polytechnic. Enabling technologies applied to his projects include mobile network, wireless network, RFID, sensor network and IP networking. He is also involved in plant networking projects including DeviceNet, FOUNDATION and Industrial Ethernet. He also published many papers, articles and journals in major conferences, newspapers and magazines in the region.

Dominique Chabauty, President, PROFIBUS Association South East Asia
 

Mr. Dominique Chabauty is the President of PROFIBUS Association SEA and a FDT marketing member for Singapore since 2008.

Dominique has been working in the Industrial Automation industry for 8 years. His experiences include working with RED LION BV, taking up the role as an Application Engineer in Factory Automation for 3 years and 2 years with RED LION USA as the Marketing Manager for Interface & Control. He also worked with HUGUET Automation in France for 2 years and branched out as an Automation Engineer. Dominique is currently the Marketing Manager SEA of TURCK Singapore.

Dominique holds the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Automation Systems (France) & Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics (UK). He is also a certified PROFIBUS DP & PA Engineer.
